If you want to buy beautiful ceramic products or learn pottery, it is worth booking a master class at a pottery workshop in advance and visiting the pottery museum or the “Pokutskyi Ceramics” museum.
A must-stop for travellers is the “Pysanka” Museum, which every Ukrainian who wants to learn more about the secrets of egg painting, ancient master techniques, and see one of the largest collections of pysankas with their own eyes should visit, including unique exhibits made by well-known people.
Sheshory and Pistyn: stunning natural landscapes
Pistyn is a small settlement known for its natural beauty, ceramic products and Pistyn sleeveless vests decorated with embroidery and metal rings. The village’s main feature is its location — in a valley surrounded by mountains. In summer, it offers ideal conditions for relaxation — plenty of berries and mushrooms. Among the unique sights of Pistyn are: Pistyn slates, the riverbank along the Pistynka River, and the Pistyn salt well. In winter, it is worth coming here with children, since a week before Christmas the “St Nicholas Estate” opens here, where there are all the conditions for spending time in a fun and useful way: taking part in a master class, visiting the room-museum of New Year ornaments, getting to know various New Year decorations and toys, and also learning pysanka painting, embroidery, woodcarving or inlay in master classes.
The picturesque Hutsul village of Sheshory continues our road trip through the Carpathians — a place where you can feel the spirit of old Ukrainian life, enjoy nature and truly have an unforgettable holiday in the Carpathians. Route №2. From Lviv to Uzhhorod: On the Way to Zakarpattia
After an exciting start to our journey in the Carpathians, let’s build a route through another western region of Ukraine — Zakarpattia.

Our journey begins in Lviv, a city known for its architectural heritage and cultural sights. You can visit Lviv Castle, the Arsenal and enjoy coffee in one of the many cafes in the old town, or take exciting tours in one of the city’s many museums. If you start your trip from Ratusha Square, you will be able to see a huge number of interesting architectural landmarks within a radius of several kilometres.
Uzhok and Uzhhorod: A road trip through Western Ukraine
The road to Uzhok will quickly lead you to local masterpieces of wooden architecture, including St. Michael's Church. It is a vivid example of a successful blend of Lemko architectural forms and the construction canons of Boyko churches. The settlement is also known for the Uzhan Baths complex, lush forests and fine viewpoints.
The unique character of Perechyn
We recommend interrupting our tourist route through Zakarpattia with a stop in Perechyn, where you can visit Robert Fisher's distillery or the Perechynska Manufaktura cheese dairy and rest in harmony with nature. The best time to visit Perechyn is the beginning of summer, when the lavender fields bloom on the grounds of Lavender Hill. Here you can also buy a range of products made from natural raw materials.
Perechyn is a small town, but it can be a good option for a holiday in the Carpathians with children or friends. Various hiking routes run through the town, so you can safely dedicate one day to exploring the surroundings or plan a trip to the Sokoltsi or Novoselytsia rocks.
20 km from Perechyn is the final stop on the Carpathians by car route — the city of Uzhhorod. One of its popular architectural landmarks is Uzhhorod Castle. Nearby are the botanical garden and the open-air museum. However, the most impressive beauty in the city appears in April-May, during the blooming of sakura in the Malii Hahlov neighborhood.
