Travel First Aid Kit for a Winter Holiday with Children.

Winter recreation brings pleasure not only to adults. Children get a great deal of enjoyment from winter recreation. After all, plenty of entertainment and beautiful views draw little ones on a winter trip with their parents. It is wonderful to relax with children in winter in any region of Ukraine. After all, it snows almost everywhere. And what more does a child need than to ride on sleds or tubes, make a snowman or play snowballs with their parents.
But winter recreation, of course, differs from summer recreation in the comfort of the stay. First of all, it is important that the child does not become chilled, is dressed in comfortable and warm clothing that allows air to circulate. On a winter trip with a child, you need to take not only spare warm clothing, but also take care to choose the medicines to prepare for the trip.
The contents of a travel first-aid kit are always a major discussion for all parents. Often even pediatricians do not always choose the medicines correctly for a child’s first-aid kit on a winter trip. This is, of course, connected with the fact that each child is individual and has their own sensitivity to medicines and adapts to climate changes differently. We want to warn that it is not enough to buy a lot of medicines at the pharmacy. They will not bring any benefit. You need to understand their proper use and how they affect a child’s body. It is also necessary to include not only medicines in the first-aid kit, but also medical supplies.
Let us take a detailed look at the list of medicines and medical supplies for a travel first-aid kit that are recommended to take with you on a winter trip with a child.
Here is the necessary list of medicines that will help you on the road:
- Antipyretics. These can be syrups or tablet forms depending on your child’s age. Also do not forget to take a thermometer.
- Antiallergic medicines.
- Antiseptics. Antiseptics will come in handy for scratches and cuts to disinfect injured skin. You can put an accessible antiseptic in the first-aid kit - hydrogen peroxide, iodine in marker form, an alcohol solution, and troxevasin ointment if a soft-tissue bruise occurs.
- For food poisoning. You should also take remedies for food poisoning, for example Smecta, white coal, black activated charcoal. Pills for motion sickness on transport would not hurt either.
- Bandaging materials. Bandaging materials such as a bandage, adhesive plasters and cotton wool must be in any travel first-aid kit. But at the slightest suspicion of a fracture or deep wounds, seek a doctor immediately.
- Also do not forget medicine for a runny nose and ear drops. Because even after running around in the fresh air, a child may feel a blocked ear or nose.
- Age-appropriate lozenges will provide quick relief after cold air exposure (sore throat, pharyngitis).
The main thing not to forget during a winter trip with a child is to properly limit how long the child stays in cold air. It is better to start with 15 minutes so that the child’s body can adapt to the temperature and gradually increase the time outside, but not more than one hour. Then the trip will be pleasant and without additional worries.
Have a pleasant trip and fun winter activities. And remember that adults are a little like children too!
